EXPECTING EAGLETS

EXPECTING EAGLETS           I live on the Spokane River and have a pair of Bald eagles nesting right across the river. They have been living there for about 7 years and every year have a batch of new babies, sometimes only one but mostly two. They are very entertaining to watch. When they first fledge, they usually almost fall out of the nest, then crash into the nearest tree or cascade off downward on the branches below. They spend the entire day perched on that one branch, loudly keening to their parents to come get them, who fly around and keep an eye on them. Fused sheet and crushed glass. Kiln fired. 28″x23″ including the two embellished stands. “The Great Pacific Northwest in Glass” series.             Price:  $950  + shipping, includes the two stands.

Copy of Fallen Leaf in the Hoh Rainforest cropped for blog

FALLEN LEAF IN THE HOH RAINFOREST Lying on a bed of moss was this beautiful, brilliantly colored leaf and it definitely wanted to be immortalized in glass! This piece is made almost entirely of crushed glass called frit. Because the frit is layered and is 1/2″ thick, the piece is quite three dimensional. “The Great Pacific Northwest in Glass” series.                                                                  Size: 9-1/2″x12″ Price: $600 + shipping. Plate painted round Peacock plate cropped for blog

PEACOCK PLATTER I have always loved peacock feathers so designed this platter. The design was painted on with fireable 22K gold, then glass paints were used to paint within the gold borders. The final step was to put the glass in a mold to form the shape. Size: 14″ diameter. Price:$300 + shipping. Includes acrylic display stand.

Copy of Fern Falls North Idaho cropped for blog

FERN FALLS, NORTH IDAHO
There are two waterfalls side by side, Fern Falls and Shadow Falls, which is the bigger of the two. They are a few miles beyond Kit Price Campground in North Idaho.  The day I took this photo, it had rained all morning and everything was so very green. This piece is made almost entirely from crushed glass called frit. Because the frit is applied in layers and is a half inch thick, the glass is quite three dimensional. Kiln fired fused crushed glass.    Size: 9″h x 12″w.     Price: $600 + shipping. Includes display stand of choice. “The Great Pacific Northwest in Glass”series.

Starlight blue vase cropped for blog

STARLIGHT VASE Deep blue transparent glass is combined with clear glass, sprinkled with iridescent and dichroic glass to add sparkle and mirror like color. The flat circle of several thicknesses of glass was placed on a stainless steel mold in the kiln and allowed to droop down the sides of the mold. Size: 4″ across bottom, 11″ across top, 10″ high. Price: $185 + shipping.

    sandy,
Your new work is outstanding and so beautiful. I dint think it could get any better, but you are certainly progressing. I thought it was photography at first. Congratulations on the very nice web site also.

    Dear Sandy:
What beautiful work! I have gone back and forth between this site and your jewelry. I am truly impressed. You are even more talented than I had thought. From now on I won’t be surprised to see you standing out in a crowd! You are not just beautiful, but, oh so “put together”.
